The Education Transit Corridor [ETC]

The Educational Transit Corridor (ETC) aims to improve the economy and walkability of St. Louis through the introduction of the High Speed Rail (HSR), which will be connected to a larger network of infrastructure along Chicago and Dallas. The HSR will ideally shorten travel times, and increases productivity and efficiency. To support the HSR, an educational hub, which aims to attract researches and students to the city, is integrated into the train infrastructure. The ETC is located at the existing Amtrak station. The site is ideal because the construction of the tracks over the years created a gap within the city. Thus, this project intends to reconnect the city through the exact same mode of transportation that created this separation between the north and south in the first place. To do so, a new elevated pedestrian walkway is designed to act as the main connector between the north and south, and the different programs such as the educational hub, train station, bus station, restaurants and drop off points within the space. In general, the project is intended to provide a safer and more enjoyable route for daily users and tourists within the area and at the same time, revitalize the city of St. Louis.
